DiMarzio built the PAF Master series around a simple idea: keep everything players love about a real vintage PAF, then fix the parts that were never quite right. This set pairs the DP260BK Neck and DP261BK Bridge (F-spaced for modern string spacing), both finished in black, so you get a cohesive voice across the whole fretboard instead of two pickups that just happen to be sold together.
The DP260BK Neck uses an Alnico 5 magnet and 4-conductor wiring, outputting 193mV at 7.37 Kohm DC resistance. It’s wound to stay quiet and articulate rather than dark and mushy—expect a rich, throaty low-mid character with creamy top-end sparkle, plenty of sustain, and note separation that holds up even with heavy chords.
The DP261BK Bridge runs an Alnico 4 magnet (4-conductor, with 1-conductor wiring optional), pushing 278mV at 7.69 Kohm. It’s the more aggressive half of the pair—dynamic and responsive to pick attack, with a snarly, thick growl when you dig in, and enough clarity left over to handle chords without collapsing into mud.
