DiMarzio built the PAF Master series for players chasing that elusive vintage PAF quality — quiet, articulate, and alive under the fingers — but with more consistency and dynamic range than the originals ever offered. This set pairs the DP260BK neck and DP261BK bridge (F-spaced for aligned pole pieces under wound strings) into a matched pair, finished in black, with a free set of D’Addario NYXL1046 Regular Light strings tossed in.
The DP260BK Neck Model is wound to strike a balance most neck humbuckers miss: full and throaty without turning to mud, with smooth, creamy top end that never gets harsh. It uses an Alnico 5 magnet and 4-conductor wiring for coil-split flexibility, putting out 193mV at 7.37 kOhm DC resistance — enough push to sing and sustain while keeping note definition intact.
On the bridge side, the DP261BK brings the rock-and-roll snarl vintage PAF fans crave. It’s touch-sensitive, handles chords and multi-note passages with clarity, and turns genuinely nasty when you dig in. An Alnico 4 magnet gives it a slightly different flavor than the neck’s Alnico 5, and it’s wired with 4 conductors (1-conductor wiring optional) for coil-splitting or phase tricks. Output sits at 278mV with 7.69 kOhm DC resistance.
