Description
Some acoustic pickups make you choose between convenience and tone. The Fishman Rare Earth doesn’t. It’s a soundhole-mount humbucker built around neodymium magnets — the “rare earth” that gives it its name — delivering even string-to-string response without the 60-cycle hum that plagues single-coil designs. Because it’s humbucking and hum-free by design, you can plug straight into an amp, PA, mixer, or direct box and get on with playing, not troubleshooting noise.
Installation is genuinely plug-and-play: no routing, no drilling, no luthier visit. The pickup pops into soundholes down to 3-5/8″ in diameter, and the output jack is pre-wired for either soundhole or endpin mounting. A thumbwheel volume control sits right at your fingertips for quick level tweaks mid-set, while the discrete, low-current active preamp keeps the signal clean and stretches battery life to roughly 300 hours of play. The compact battery mount tucks neatly under the pickup itself, out of the way and out of sight.
Rounding out the bundle is Fishman’s FT-2 clip-on digital tuner — a fully chromatic tuner with a built-in mic, adjustable swivel clip, and a bright backlit LCD that flips from red to green the instant you land in tune. Its meter-style sharp/flat display stays readable even under stage lights, and the sensor clip locks in accurate readings even in loud rooms. Runs on a single coin cell.
