Some pickup combos become standards for a reason, and the JB/Jazz pairing is the textbook example. This set puts Seymour Duncan’s SH-4 JB in the bridge and the SH-2N Jazz Model in the neck, pre-matched so you’re not left guessing whether the two will speak the same tonal language.
- SH-4 JB (bridge): Duncan’s best-selling humbucker for good reason. Hot coils wound around an alnico 5 bar magnet push out an aggressive upper-midrange snarl, a low end that stays tight instead of flabby, and top-end harmonics that cut without turning brittle. It covers everything from twangy blues to full-on metal without sounding one-dimensional.
- SH-2N Jazz (neck): Built as the JB’s natural counterpart, this one trades output for clarity. Same alnico 5 bar magnet, but a different coil wind gives it a glassy, articulate top end, a scooped midrange, and a low end that stays full without turning muddy or boomy. Randy Rhoads, Jeff Beck, and Duncan himself have all leaned on this pickup — it’s genuinely adaptable across genres, not just a neck pickup for metal players who need something quieter.
Both pickups are hand-built at the Santa Barbara factory with nickel silver baseplates, 4-conductor lead wire so you can wire in coil-splits or series/parallel switching, and vacuum wax potting to keep feedback and squeal out of the picture at higher gain.
Finished in matching zebra bobbins, this set drops straight into any standard humbucker-routed guitar and gives you a proven, road-tested tonal foundation rather than a guessing game of mismatched pickups.
