Description
If you want your P/J bass to hit harder without losing clarity, the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound set pairs two pickups built around the same idea: bigger pole pieces, bigger magnetic field, bigger tone.
- SPB-3 Quarter Pound (P Bass position): Quarter-inch diameter pole pieces widen the magnetic aperture and stretch the frequency range, giving you a thick, punchy voice with serious midrange push and Seymour Duncan’s highest output for a P-style pickup. It’s become the go-to Basslines pickup for a reason — while it’s a favorite for driving rock and metal, it’s surprisingly versatile on its own, covering more ground than you’d expect from a single pickup. Comes with black logo covers, a wiring diagram, and mounting screws.
- SJB-3B (Jazz Bass position): A true single-coil wound hot, built for players who want the aggressive attack of the standard Hot Jazz pickup taken up a notch. The quarter-inch poles and dense winding keep the response full and let notes sustain longer than you’d expect. Logo cover included. Well suited to blues, classic rock, garage, heavy rock, and metal tones, old-school or nu.
Together, this P/J pairing gives you punchy low-end authority from the P side and cutting single-coil bite from the J side — a combo built for players who move between styles without swapping basses. For deeper tone-shaping, Seymour Duncan’s STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuits complement this set nicely.
This bundle also includes a set of Power Slinky strings, so you’re ready to string up and dial in your new tone right away.
