Description
Some pickups chase vintage accuracy for its own sake. The Pearly Gates just wants to rock, borrowing the DNA of a ’59 Les Paul Standard’s original PAFs and pushing the output just a touch past where they left off. The result is a humbucker that stays warm and vocal in the midrange but never gets sleepy — sustain runs long, harmonics bloom out on command, and there’s a bright, slightly cheeky top end that cuts through a wall of amps without turning brittle.
- Nickel-covered SH-PG1 humbucker set (neck and bridge)
- Four-conductor hookup cable for coil-splitting flexibility
- Voiced for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam, and hard rock
Because it leans bright, this set really shines on guitars that could use a little extra sparkle — maple and ebony fingerboards in particular, though it also opens up nicely in hollow and semi-hollow bodies where you want extra clarity without losing warmth. Drop it into the neck for sweet, singing leads or the bridge for that raw, slightly unhinged edge that made this pickup famous in the first place.
This bundle pairs the pickup set with a set of Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky strings, so once your wiring’s done, you’re ready to plug in and dial up that Texas grit right away.
