Description
If you’re chasing that dusty, twangy voice of a real early Telecaster, this bundle hands you both halves of the equation. The STR-1 rhythm pickup is a faithful recreation of the neck pickup found in ’50s Teles — smooth, open, with warm lower-mids and a bit of airy sparkle up top that keeps it from ever sounding muddy. It’s built with a chrome-plated brass cover and comes wired with waxed cloth hookup cable, just like the originals.
Paired with it is the STL-1, a reproduction of the 1954 lead pickup, complete with standard .187″ Alnico 5 pole pieces raised under the D and G strings for that signature biting attack. Output is intentionally kept modest compared to the STL-1b, favoring bright, articulate detail over brute force — the kind of pickup that rewards a light touch and a Telecaster twang that cuts through a mix without shouting.
- STR-1: neck/rhythm position only — vintage-correct ’50s Tele voicing
- STL-1: bridge/lead position only — 1954-spec twang and bite
- Both include waxed cloth hookup cable; STR-1 adds a chrome-plated brass cover
- Works well on maple or rosewood boards, ideal for well-balanced instruments
- Suited to traditional country, country pop, chicken pickin’, rockabilly, surf, and blues/blues-rock
Also included is a set of Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky strings, so once your new pickups are wired in you’ve got fresh strings ready to go straight out of the box.
