Description
The SJB-3 is Seymour Duncan’s answer for bassists who love the Hot Jazz Bass sound but want more bite on top of that. Still a true single-coil design, it’s built with quarter-inch pole pieces and heavier windings to push output past the standard Hot set while keeping that snappy, aggressive attack up front. Sustain holds up well too, so notes don’t just get loud, they stay alive. Genre-wise it’s happy anywhere blues, garage, classic rock, heavy rock, classic metal or nu-metal territory.
- True single-coil construction with quarter-inch pole pieces
- High output with strong front-end attack and solid sustain
- Logo cover included
This is sold as a matched neck/bridge pair, calibrated to work together — the neck pickup is built slightly narrower than the bridge, and its coil is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity so the two cancel hum when run together. Pair this set with an STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuit if you want to dial in even more shaping at the amp.
Rounding out the bundle is a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky Bass strings (2834), gauged .045/.065/.080/.100. Ernie Ball winds these in the Coachella Valley from top-shelf raw materials, tuned for a bright, balanced voice that plenty of well-known bassists rely on night after night. Drop the SJB-3 set in, string up fresh, and you’re covering both the pickup upgrade and the string refresh in one shot.
