Description
If your Jazzmaster sounds a little too polite for what you’re playing, the SJM-2 set is Seymour Duncan’s answer. It’s built as a direct swap for stock Jazzmaster pickups — same footprint, same look (no cover included) — but the output, low-end, and lower-mid presence get a serious bump over the vintage-spec SJM-1. Think surf tones with more bite, jazz voicings with more body, and enough push in the mids to handle blues, classic rock, or heavier rock without losing that unmistakable Jazzmaster character.
- SJM-2n: neck position, reverse-wound for hum-canceling operation
- SJM-2b: bridge position, companion pickup to the SJM-2n
- True single-coil construction with boosted output over the SJM-1 Vintage
- Greater sustain and a fatter low/low-mid response
- No cover included — raw bobbin appearance
Used together, the reverse-wound/reverse-polarity pairing cancels hum while giving you two distinct voices from one guitar — snap and air on the bridge, warmth and growl on the neck.
This bundle also throws in a free set of Ernie Ball 2223 Super Slinky electric strings, the same gauge set favored by players like Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Angus Young. Nickel-plated steel wrap wire over a hex-shaped steel core, paired with tin-plated high-carbon steel plain strings, delivers a balanced tone with dependable feel and life. Gauges: .009, .011, .016, .024w, .032, .042.
