Description
This is the Telecaster pickup duo built to sound like it rolled off the line in the ’50s. Pair the STR-1 neck with the Vintage ’54 STL-1 bridge and you get the full spectrum of that original Tele voice — glassy top end, woody low-mids, and just enough bite to keep chicken pickin’, rockabilly, surf, and blues-rock players honest.
The STR-1 handles rhythm (neck) duties. It’s a vintage-correct rebuild of the 1950s Tele neck pickup, tuned to soften the lead pickup’s edge without going dark — expect open, airy highs, warm lower-mids, and a smooth response that suits both maple and rosewood boards. It ships with a chrome-plated brass cover and waxed cloth hookup wire, and is designed to be run alongside an STL-1 or STL-1b in the bridge.
The Vintage ’54 STL-1 takes the bridge slot and nails the twangy, biting character of the original ’54 lead pickup. It uses standard .187″ Alnico 5 pole pieces, raised under the D and G strings for balanced string-to-string output — the same trick Fender used decades ago. Output runs slightly lower than the STL-1b, trading a bit of hotness for extra top-end detail and bite. Waxed cloth hookup cable included; the STR-1 is its correct neck-position partner.
