Description
Extreme metal doesn’t leave much room for a pickup that can’t keep up, and the Black Winter set was engineered specifically for that gap. Think Scandinavian black metal and death metal territory: icy, merciless, and unforgiving in the best way. Seymour Duncan tuned this pair to deliver crushing distortion without losing definition, so your riffs stay tight and your solos still bite with articulation instead of dissolving into mush.
The voicing leans on punishing mids and a controlled low end, giving you enough grime and saturation for downtuned chugging while keeping string sensitivity intact for dynamics. Neck and bridge units are calibrated together, so switching between them feels like a balanced assault rather than a volume or tone mismatch.
Each set is hand built in Santa Barbara, CA. The standard configuration is 6-string passive mount, with 7 and 8-string passive versions available featuring naked coils, plus an Active Soapbar Mount option with exposed pole pieces for players running active setups. Every pickup ships with 4-conductor lead wire, opening up coil-split and series/parallel wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted to shut down microphonic squeal at high gain.
