Description
This is a shortcut to hum-free vintage Strat tone without the soldering iron. Seymour Duncan hand-builds this white pickguard in Santa Barbara, CA, and loads it with three Stack Plus pickups — a stacked-humbucker design that cancels 60-cycle hum while keeping the airy top end and snap that makes a Strat sound like a Strat.
Each position is voiced with purpose. The Custom Stack Plus sits in the bridge for a rounder, fuller low end than a typical bridge single-coil. The Vintage-Hot Stack Plus takes the neck slot and adds a bit more meat to warm up your lead and rhythm tones. In the middle, the Classic Stack Plus fills out positions 2 and 4 with classic in-between quack and chime. Flip the included push-pull pot and you can split any of them down to true single-coil operation, giving you both silent Stack mode and raw vintage single-coil grit from the same guitar.
Under the hood, all three pickups use alnico 5 rod magnets, 3-conductor splittable leadwire, and are vacuum wax potted to stay quiet at stage volume. The whole assembly comes prewired on Seymour Duncan’s Liberator solderless system, built to the standard 11-screw USA pickguard pattern, so dropping it into your Strat — or swapping pickups again down the road — is a screwdriver job, not a soldering project.
