Instead of the usual alnico, EMG loaded this design with ceramic magnets, giving it a stronger, more aggressive foundation while keeping the touch-sensitivity and airy top end that vintage-style pickups are known for.
In the bridge slot, the H2-B translates that combination into effortless high-gain lead tone — tight enough to stay defined under saturation, but never brittle or thin. Backed off, it cleans up with a rounded, buttery warmth that still has plenty of detail. It’s a genuinely dual-purpose pickup: full-bodied clean rhythm one moment, cutting distorted leads the next, with no fuss in between.
