Description
Down-tuned chug without the mud is a tall order for seven strings, but the Nazgul/Sentient pairing was built specifically to handle it. This set comes in Active Soapbar mount with black covers, ready to drop into any guitar wired for active electronics.
Nazgul (Bridge)
The bridge unit runs on a large ceramic magnet pushed hard for high output, tuned to keep the low B and F# strings from turning into indistinct rumble. Mids are voiced to carve out note definition under heavy gain, so palm-muted riffs stay tight and lead lines stay legible even at brutal saturation levels. It’s built as the bridge half of a matched set with the Sentient neck pickup.
Sentient (Neck)
Up front, the Sentient uses an Alnico 5 magnet with medium-strength coils to land somewhere between vintage PAF warmth and modern clarity. It cleans up nicely for jazzier or ambient passages but still holds articulation when the gain gets pushed, making it a versatile complement to the Nazgul’s aggression. Works well with brighter-to-semi-warm tonewoods like maple through korina, paired with maple or rosewood boards.
Notable users include Aaron Marshall (Intervals), Keith Merrow, Jason Frankhouser, and Patrick Sheridan of Fit for an Autopsy — players who lean on extended range without sacrificing note clarity.
