Description
This is the pairing Duncan fans reach for when they want one guitar to cover both eras of rock tone. The SH-1n ’59 sits in the neck doing what P.A.F.-style pickups do best: warm, slightly scooped-mid cleans that clean up beautifully, plus smooth sustain when you push into breakup. It’s wound with plain enamel wire on a long-legged baseplate, wax potted to kill microphonic squeal, and skips the logo for that vintage-correct look. Equally at home in country, jazz, blues, funk or classic rock.
In the bridge, the SH-5 Duncan Custom takes that same P.A.F. DNA and turns the wick up. Think of it as a PAF that’s been to the gym — a ceramic magnet and custom coil design deliver compressed dynamics, punchy low end, and an aggressive midrange bite that cuts through a dense mix without falling apart in drop tunings. It’s the go-to bridge pickup for heavier rock, punk, funk and metal, and it’s especially effective paired with rosewood fingerboards.
Both pickups are 4-conductor, so you get full flexibility for coil-splitting, series/parallel wiring, or phase tricks if your wiring supports it. Finished in black to match just about any build.
