Description
This is the pairing Duncan fans reach for when they want one guitar to cover both eras of rock tone. The SH-1n ’59 Model sits in the neck, built to the letter of Seth Lover’s original “Patent Applied For” spec — alnico magnets, plain enamel wire, nickel-plated studs, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape holding it all together. Expect a round, woody low end, smooth highs, and long, singing sustain that never gets brittle.
In the bridge, the SH-5 Duncan Custom takes that same PAF DNA and turns the gain up. Its ceramic magnet and custom-wound coils push midrange attack and top-end bite hard enough to earn the nickname “PAF on steroids,” while keeping bass tight and controlled — even in dropped tunings where lesser pickups turn to mush. It’s equally at home slamming through classic rock riffs, funk stabs, punk chords, or high-gain metal.
- Both pickups wired with 4-conductor leads for coil-splitting and phase flexibility
- Gold covers for a clean, classic look
- SH-1n includes wiring diagram and mounting screws
- Pairs vintage-correct neck warmth with a beefed-up, harmonically rich bridge tone
- Particularly effective on rosewood fingerboards
This bundle also includes a free set of Ernie Ball EB2220 Power Slinky strings, so once the pickups are wired in, you’re ready to string up and play.
