Description
The EMG-J set takes the familiar snarl of a Jazz Bass and runs it through EMG’s active circuitry, widening the tonal window without losing that signature midrange bite. A radiused ceramic bar magnet under each coil tightens up the low mids and adds sparkle on top, while the low resistance-to-inductance ratio pushes low-frequency response further than a passive J pickup typically manages.
Because the design is active, you get a hotter, quieter signal with far less hum than vintage-style single coils – a real advantage whether you’re tracking fretless in the studio or fighting stage noise on a Friday night gig. The overall voice stays true to the J-bass character players expect, just with more headroom and articulation layered on top.
