If your ear is chasing that unmistakable 70’s single coil growl — think fuzzed-out blues turning into arena rock in the space of one bar — the V70 was built for exactly that pursuit. Suhr designed this set around the sound of the era when Alnico magnets, plain enamel wire, and gray fiber bobbins defined the tone coming off every big stage.
Each V70 is hand-built using Suhr’s proprietary winding process, paired with specially formulated Alnico V magnets for that push-and-pull dynamic response players from that decade chased. The staggered pole piece design has been reworked to even out the magnetic field across the strings, which pays off hugely on wide, multi-step bends and also makes these pickups a natural match for the flatter fretboard radii found on a lot of modern guitars.
Tonally, expect snap and tightness down low with a shimmer on top that never turns brittle or ice-picky — these pickups are touch-sensitive enough to track every bit of pick attack and vibrato you throw at them.
