W.L. Van Zandt didn’t set out to build a pickup empire. He was a machinist who played guitar in country bands back in the 1950s, and when friends started asking him to rewind their worn-out magnets, word of mouth did the rest. Decades later, that same hands-on approach still defines every set that leaves his shop.
This True Vintage Telecaster Set pairs an uncovered flat-pole neck pickup with a staggered-pole bridge pickup, chasing the tone Van Zandt loved best out of every design he’s built. It’s his personal favorite — a faithful recreation of the sound coming out of Fender’s shop in the late 50s and early 60s, but with a touch more push behind it.
