Description
Designed alongside hard-rock guitarist Doug Aldrich, this bridge humbucker is voiced to push hard-gain amps into full roar while keeping every note distinct – not the wall-of-mud you get from a lot of high-output bridge pickups. Suhr built it from their vintage-inspired humbucker platform, so it carries the string separation and touch sensitivity that made those old designs desirable in the first place, just dialed up in output for players who live in the crunch and lead zones.
This particular version is wound to the Fender-style 53mm pole spacing, so it’s a direct fit for trem-equipped guitars with that string layout – no need to hunt for a Gibson-spacing pickup and fight polepiece alignment. It’s finished in white and pairs naturally with the Aldrich neck humbucker, which Suhr calibrated separately to match this bridge unit’s output for a cohesive set across both positions.
Specs carried over from Suhr’s own numbers:
- DC Resistance: 17.5K ohms (bridge position)
- 4-conductor wire for flexible coil-splitting/phase wiring options
- Fender-style 53mm spacing (also available in Gibson-style 50mm spacing)
Suhr Guitars has been hand-building instruments and electronics since 1997 under JS Technologies, co-founded by John Suhr and Steve Smith. Their pickup lineup – Gibson-style humbuckers, Strat-style singles, and the hybrid S90 – is built around the tone qualities of the best vintage examples, which is why players from Scott Henderson to Guthrie Govan to Kirk Fletcher keep coming back to them. ProAudioLand was named Suhr’s 2015 Electronics Dealer of the Year.
