DiMarzio built these around a hybrid magnetic structure — Alnico 5 paired with ceramic — that stretches the frequency response wide enough to cover both old-school warmth and modern low-end punch, all in the same set.

Hum cancellation here works the same way it does in the Model J: each coil senses a pair of strings rather than relying on a stacked-coil trick. That approach keeps the tone honest even with a comparatively high DC resistance rating, so you get lows that stay tight and defined instead of turning to mud, plus highs with real percussive snap. The midrange sits round and full without crowding out the rest of the signal, and harmonics practically leap off the strings whether you’re digging in with a pick or working the strings with your fingers. Response is fast and immediate either way.
