Description
Born from George Lynch’s demand for a pickup that could scream with rich harmonics yet clean up beautifully when the volume knob comes down, the Lil’ Screamin’ Demon shrinks the DNA of its full-size Screamin’ Demon sibling into a single-coil footprint. That means you get humbucker snarl and output in a housing that drops straight into any single-coil route or pickguard slot.
What sets this one apart is the mixed hardware inside each coil: a combination of slotted and Allen-head pole screws that gives every coil its own slightly asymmetric magnetic field. The result is a big, punchy, percussive attack without the harsh edge you’d expect from a hotter humbucker – just enough glassy shimmer riding on top of the aggression to keep chords defined and pick attack articulate.
Positioned for neck or middle duty, it’s a moderate-output pickup that’s happiest doing double duty across genres:
- Classic rock rhythm and lead tones with real body
- Jazz-rock fusion where clarity under gain matters
- Heavy rock riffing that still cleans up when you back off the volume
- Aggressive instrumental rock solos that need harmonic content, not just gain
Finished in black and wired with four-conductor hookup cable, it gives you full flexibility for series, parallel, or coil-split wiring schemes if your setup calls for it.
