Description
This DiMarzio set pairs two of the brand’s most trusted humbuckers to cover both ends of the tonal spectrum without stepping on each other. In the neck, the PAF Pro (DP151) was built for the era when rack gear and high-gain amps demanded a pickup that could cut through processing instead of getting swallowed by it. Its Alnico 5 magnet and 4-conductor wiring deliver an open, PAF-flavored voice with a mid-range push that gives notes a subtle “vowel” character — think a wah stuck halfway open. Lows stay snappy and defined, highs stay present without turning brittle, making it equally happy as a neck pickup in almost any guitar or as a lower-output bridge option.
- Wiring: 4 Conductor
- Magnet: Alnico 5
- Output: 300 mV
- DC Resistance: 8.4 Kohm
- Introduced: 1986
Handling bridge duties is the Tone Zone (DP155), a hot pickup that avoids the thin, buzzy “mosquito” sound some high-output humbuckers suffer from. Dig in and it delivers serious power; back off and it cleans up nicely, thanks to a wide dynamic range. Reinforced bass and low-mids give single notes real depth and make chords sound massive, while its patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtone content alive despite the fat low end. It also splits cleanly for a convincing single-coil tone.
- Wiring: 4 Conductor
- Magnet: Alnico 5
- Output: 375 mV
- DC Resistance: 17.31 Kohm
Both pickups come finished in black, and the set includes a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings so you’re ready to string up and play as soon as the wiring’s done.
