Description
This DiMarzio set pairs the DP151 PAF Pro in the neck with the DP155 Tone Zone in the bridge, both in creme covers, and throws in a free set of Elixir Super Light strings so you can restring the moment your new pickups land.
The PAF Pro was born in the mid-80s when players needed a pickup that could keep its PAF-style openness intact even under heavy rack processing and high-gain amps. It’s transparent enough to cut through effects chains that swallow darker pickups whole, with tight low-end snap, a mid-range bump that gives it a subtle cocked-wah vocal quality, and treble that stays present without turning brittle. It’s a fantastic neck pickup in nearly any guitar, and works well in the bridge too when you don’t need maximum output. DiMarzio actually recommends it for any position – it’s that versatile, and pairs especially well with hotter bridge pickups or single-coils since it won’t overpower them.
The Tone Zone in the bridge solves the classic high-output problem of one-dimensional buzzy aggression. It’s genuinely hot, but with real dynamic range – dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Bass and low-mid response are huge, giving chords real weight and single notes surprising depth. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtone content rich despite the fat low end, and it splits cleanly for a usable single-coil tone too.
