Description
This set pairs the DP193BC Air Norton (neck) with the DP155BC Tone Zone (bridge), both finished in black and creme, plus a set of Ernie Ball EB2222 Hybrid Slinky strings so you’re not scrambling for a fresh string change on install day.
DiMarzio built the Air Norton as an “Airbucker” take on the Norton, and while it was originally aimed at high-gain bridge duty, it turned out to be a standout neck pickup instead. Expect deep, warm tone that never turns to mud, plenty of output without sounding compressed or distorted, and harmonic content that’s rare for a neck humbucker. The patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull, so sustain improves and your pick attack stays expressive and dynamic. In the neck slot it’s open and full-bodied with enough power to sit evenly against nearly any bridge humbucker — try it through 500K pots if you want extra treble and harmonic sparkle.
On the bridge side, the Tone Zone tackles the classic hot-pickup problem: pickups that get shrill and buzzy under hard picking. Instead, the Tone Zone offers real dynamic range — dig in for serious power, back off for a cleaner, quieter response. Bass and low-mid content is substantial, giving single notes real depth and chords a huge, full presence. Patented dual-resonance coils pull out more overtones than you’d expect from a pickup this fat-sounding, and it splits to a genuinely usable single-coil tone.
Both pickups are 4-conductor and Alnico 5 magnet equipped, suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars.
