Think of the P5J as your PJ blueprint stretched to fit a 5-string neck. EMG took the split-coil P and paired it with a single LJ Jazz unit, giving you two distinct voices you can blend or use solo. The P half handles the low-end business — tight, full-bodied fundamental that anchors a mix without turning to mud. The LJ picks up where the P leaves off, adding midrange grit and extended top-end sparkle so your attack stays defined even when you’re digging in hard.

That split personality is what makes this set so versatile. Roll off the bridge pickup for a warm, rounded Motown pulse, or blend both in for percussive slap funk with real snap. It’s an active set built for players who want more than one tone knob’s worth of personality out of a bass.

Note: the bridge Jazz pickup is standard length (3.75″) with a max string spacing of 2.75″.
