Description
The EMG-P6 takes the DNA of the classic EMG-P and stretches it to fit 6-string bass necks, giving wide-string players the same punch and clarity that’s made the 4-string version a studio and stage staple for decades. Instead of long, high-resistance coils wired in series like a passive P-pickup, the P6 uses short, squat coils with low resistance and high inductance, wired independently and boosted by onboard preamp power. The result is roughly double the low-end output of a passive design, without turning to mud.
Ceramic magnets keep the top end articulate, so you get a voice that’s often described as naturally present, deep, and punchy in the mids — the kind of balance that lets a 6-string bass sit cleanly in a mix instead of disappearing into low-frequency sludge or getting harsh on top.
