Description
Skip the soldering marathon and drop in a harness that’s already dialed for vintage-correct Les Paul tone. Emerson hand-wires this kit in the USA using true “50’s style” wiring and vintage-spec buss wire for grounding, the same approach that gives old Bursts their famous interactive controls and reduced treble bleed when you back off the volume.
With 50’s wiring, backing down the volume knob doesn’t just quiet things down — it actually cleans up an overdriven amp while keeping the top end intact, so you can ride dynamics without losing clarity in the mix. Volume and tone also interact with one another, similar to what you’d hear from a tweed-era Fender amp: nudge one control and the other shifts slightly too. It’s a small learning curve, but most players adapt within minutes and never look back.
This harness is built for USA Gibson Les Pauls with 3/8″ short-shaft pots. Heads up if you’re installing in an import guitar: you may need to widen the control cavity holes to accommodate the higher-spec US electronics, and you might also need US-spec knobs to fit the 24-tooth split shafts.
What’s in the box:
- (4) Emerson PRO CTS 500K split-shaft potentiometers
- (1) Switchcraft J11 1/4″ mono input jack, made in the USA
- (2) Emerson Bumblebee paper-in-oil capacitors — 0.022uF for the bridge, 0.015uF for the neck
- (1) Wiring diagram
Everything’s pre-assembled and ready to mount, so you get authentic vintage wiring and tone-shaping without hunting down individual parts or second-guessing your solder joints.
