Description
Break a string mid-set and you’ll appreciate what Grover did here: took the bulletproof Rotomatic gear train and bolted on a thumb-screw locking mechanism at the post. Feed the string through the hole, wrap it once, snug the thumb screw, and you’re back in tune with minimal winding and minimal slippage. It’s the kind of detail that matters more the harder you play.
Under the hood, the 502 Series runs the same sealed, lubricated gears Grover is known for, with an 18:1 ratio for fine, controlled pitch adjustment — no more overshooting on delicate tuning tweaks. The posts are sized to handle up to .074″ strings, so baritones and heavier gauges are fair game.
