Description
Klein didn’t just copy a vintage Strat pickup — they reverse-engineered one. The Alnico 5 magnets in this Epic Series 1962 set were sent to an independent metallurgical lab for chemical analysis, then poured to match that exact alloy composition by the same manufacturer Klein contracts directly. It’s a level of magnet accuracy no one else in the market offers.
The wire tells the same story. Klein sourced original early-’60s Stratocaster wire samples and had their 42ga Heavy Formvar built to match the analyzed specs down to resistance, inner/outer diameter, and even color — not just an off-the-shelf approximation.
Tonally, this set delivers a surprising amount of low-end weight and chunk for a vintage-spec pickup, balanced by medium output and a mid-range that knows how to bark. Strum lightly and it stays clean and articulate; dig in and it pushes into a warm, driving growl. Top-end clarity stays even and controlled throughout, so nothing gets brittle or harsh.
- Output: Neck 6.4k, Middle 6.5k, Bridge 6.3k
- Cast Alnico 5 magnets matched to original 1962 magnetic charge and stagger
- 42ga Heavy Formvar wire built to analyzed vintage specs
- Flash-potted (lightly waxed) to kill microphonic squeal without stripping out vintage character
- Parchment covers
For players chasing genuine early-’60s Strat tone without the price tag of a true vintage set, this is about as close and as honest as it gets.
