Description
The Silver Sensor takes the classic 70’s single-coil snarl and dials up the output and midrange punch, giving you a fatter, more aggressive voice without losing single-coil character. If you love vintage-style sparkle but want more meat behind it, this is the Sensor built for that job.
Underneath the black cover sits Lace’s signature construction: instead of a traditional bobbin, the coil and magnets are wrapped in a Radiant Field Barrier, a metal shielding system that does double duty. It cuts 60-cycle hum for a noticeably quieter single-coil, and it shapes a broader, more focused magnetic sensing field than you’d get from a standard pickup design.
That design also multiplies how much of the string the pickup actually “reads.” Where conventional pickups generate roughly 4 to 12 magnetic sensing fields, the Lace Sensor produces 36, capturing a wider slice of string vibration and translating into a richer harmonic response and better note-to-note balance across all strings.
Because the Sensor’s design is so efficient, it doesn’t need the strong magnets that regular pickups rely on. Those stronger magnets create drag on the string, which saps sustain and can subtly pull notes off pitch. With the lower-energy magnets in a Lace Sensor, that dampening effect nearly disappears, so notes sustain longer and hold truer pitch throughout the decay.
- Fat, boosted-output 70’s single-coil voicing with added midrange
- Radiant Field Barrier shielding for reduced 60-cycle hum
- 36 magnetic sensing fields for wider harmonic pickup
- Low-energy magnet design for increased sustain and pitch stability
- Black cover
Setup tip: Lace recommends setting pickup height at .170″ from string to pole (about the stack height of two dimes and a nickel), measuring from the bottom of the string closest to the pickup.
