Since ditching backline amps on the Test for Echo tour, Geddy Lee has run his bass rig straight through SansAmp gear and into the house PA. The GED-2112 is Tech 21’s answer to years of him relying on the RBI and RPM together — a signature 1U preamp that packs both circuits into one box instead of a rack full of them.
What makes it unusual is the layout: two independent, all-analog SansAmp preamps wired in parallel rather than stacked in series. The Drive section borrows its DNA from the RPM, giving you that same broad spread of overdrive tones from glassy to grinding. The Deep section is tuned purely for low-frequency muscle — dial the Saturation control up from clean headroom into thick, tube-style compression and harmonic bite. Both sides can run solo or blended together, and each can be sent independently to a mixing board or to two separate amps.
The EQ curve is locked to Geddy’s own personal settings, so there’s less knob-hunting and more plug-in-and-play. Everything else on the panel is built for real gigging flexibility:
