Born from John Suhr’s collaboration with Mike Landau and a deep dive into some of the finest vintage single-coils around, the V63 Classic (previously branded ML Classic) is built to capture what made the good ones great — not just the average vintage pickup, but the standout examples from Mike’s own collection. This is the middle-position unit, wound reverse-wind/reverse-polarity so it cancels hum when blended with your bridge or neck pickup in position 2 or 4.
Tonally, the Classic voicing sits on the sweeter, more vintage-correct side of the V63 line, compared to the slightly hotter Standard version. Expect glassy top-end detail, a woody midrange, and lows that stay tight rather than flabby — the kind of balance that makes single-coils sing on both clean chime and pushed lead tones. It’s a pickup that rewards touch: dig in for snarl, back off for sparkle.
Each V63 pickup is calibrated per position rather than treated as a generic three-pack, so the middle unit is voiced to sit correctly alongside its bridge and neck counterparts.
