Description
Forget miking up a cab or fighting room noise — the Baroni V-1530 puts genuine Class A tube preamp tone into a tiny cast-aluminum box, tuned specifically to capture the classic British Vox AC voicing. It’s the third entry in Baroni’s five-amp Recording Tube Amp Series, each one built around a real high-voltage tube stage rather than a modeling chip.
At the heart of it is Baroni’s 100% analog VARICAB circuit, which does more than fake an EQ curve. It replicates the full downstream behavior of a real amp: power stage response, depth and presence character, and cab variation, all from one VARICAB knob. Turn it counterclockwise for punch and low-end weight, clockwise for air and top-end sparkle, and dial feedback in just like you would on the original amp.
Because the V-1530 references a Vox AC circuit, its tone stack keeps things simple with dedicated BassCut and TrebleCut controls, plus Gain (body) and Volume for the preamp and simulated power amp stage. A buffered FX loop lets you drop time-based effects in after the distortion, and two front-panel toggles let you bypass VARICAB entirely when tracking into your own VST/IR setup, along with ground lift. A separate Main Out (TS jack) can feed the return of a real amp’s power section, letting the V-1530 double as a standalone preamp.
