Description
The Suhr SSH is the bridge half of Suhr’s most requested humbucker pairing, engineered to give Gibson-spaced guitars a bridge pickup that leans hard into overdrive without losing the open, vintage character players fall in love with. Wound over an Alnico V magnet and reading 12.8 kOhm DC resistance, it sits in that sweet spot between aggressive output and articulate clarity – enough push to slam a tube amp into breakup, but enough detail left over that chords don’t turn to mush and single-note runs still cut.
Suhr’s reputation was built on studying what made vintage humbuckers great and then executing that formula with tighter tolerances and better components. The SSH carries that philosophy: it’s not trying to reinvent the bridge humbucker, it’s trying to nail the tone that made players chase vintage units in the first place, then make it reliably reproducible. That’s the same attention to detail that’s earned Suhr loyalty from players as different as Scott Henderson, Guthrie Govan, Doug Aldrich, and Kirk Fletcher – jazz, blues, technical rock, hard rock, all finding something useful in the same pickup design philosophy.
This version comes with a white cover and is built for 50mm Gibson-style pole spacing, wired with 4-conductor hookup wire so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting, phase switching, or series/parallel wiring if your control cavity supports it.
