Don’t be fooled by the beachy name; this pickup is just as at home in a smoky blues club as it is chasing reverb-drenched surf tones. It handles Blues, West Side Soul, Jangle Pop, and everything in between with equal ease.
This is the Custom Bridge variant, wound hotter than the standard Surfer to compensate for the bridge position’s naturally thinner output. You get all the vintage sweetness and quack the Antiquity II line is known for, but with enough extra output to hold its own against a hot neck pickup or drive a dirty amp a little harder without losing clarity. (An RW/RP version also exists for players wanting a hum-canceling middle position.)
Duncan ages these pickups to sound and look like they’ve spent decades in a well-loved Strat — expect that broken-in, slightly compressed vintage voice rather than a modern hi-fi sheen.
