Description
Before it ever showed up on a store shelf, the AT-1 was Andy Timmons’ secret weapon — a custom bridge humbucker he’s leaned on since 2001, originally exclusive to his Ibanez signature model. It’s the pickup behind that unmistakable touch: singing sustain, articulate pick attack, and a voice that stays musical even when you’re digging in hard.
Under the hood, the AT-1 shares its winding DNA with DiMarzio’s PAF 36th Anniversary, so you get that same open, well-balanced PAF character as a starting point. But this one’s been dialed in hotter and pushed toward rock, trading a bit of vintage politeness for more drive without losing the warmth or note-to-note clarity that made the original formula work in the first place. Chords stay clear, single notes cut, and there’s enough output on tap to feed an amp into natural breakup.
An Alnico 5 magnet keeps the low end tight and the top end lively, while 4-conductor wiring gives you the flexibility to split coils or wire up series/parallel switching if your setup calls for it. Finished in gold to match a wide range of builds.
- Wiring: 4-Conductor
- Magnet: Alnico 5
- Output: 320 mV
- DC Resistance: 16.50 kOhm
If you want the tone Andy Timmons built his reputation on — balanced, warm, but ready to rock — this is the pickup that started it all.
