Description
Born alongside Steve Lukather’s LIII Music Man guitar and named for his 2013 album Transition, this neck-position humbucker was voiced for players who want vintage character without the vintage limitations. Lukather tracked the entire record with it, and it shows in the pickup’s personality: warm and articulate at the core, but with a fast, aggressive edge that keeps single-note lines from turning to mush.
Think of it as a classic PAF-style humbucker that’s been given a bit of an attitude adjustment. It cleans up beautifully for jazzy voicings and ballad tones, then snaps into focus the moment you dig in — punchy, quick to respond, and never flabby. The ceramic magnet keeps the low end tight and controlled while adding a touch of extra push compared to alnico options, making this a strong match for players who split time between clean, chordal work and searing lead tones.
Four-conductor wiring means you’re not locked into a single sound — split it, phase it, or run it straight into a standard two-conductor setup depending on how your control cavity is wired.
