Description
Fishman built the Fluence Classic set to solve a problem every tone chaser knows: wire-wound pickups sound great until hum, cable capacitance, or long runs start eating your top end. By starting from a active Fluence Core instead of a traditional coil, this humbucker pair skips the noise floor entirely while still delivering the harmonic complexity players actually want.
Each pickup in the set carries two distinct voices, switchable via push-pull, mini-toggle, or your wiring of choice — no output drop, no tone-sucking compromises.
- Bridge Voice 1 — Calibrated Vintage P.A.F. tone, peak frequency 2.25kHz
- Bridge Voice 2 — Classic Hotrod bite, peak frequency 1.6kHz
- Neck Voice 1 — Vintage P.A.F. neck warmth, peak frequency 2.6kHz
- Neck Voice 2 — Fluence-exclusive clear, airy chime, peak frequencies 4.5kHz / 350Hz
Both pickups share Alnico V magnets in a bar-and-pole configuration, roughly 140 Gauss at the string, 2k output impedance, and a 2.5mA current draw. Bridge pole spacing sits at 52.6mm, neck at 49mm — direct swaps for standard humbucker routing. Power comes from a standard 9-volt battery (roughly 200 hours of use) or Fishman’s optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack, so you’re never stuck mid-set changing batteries.
Drop this set into any guitar wired for passive humbuckers and get four genuinely different tones from one control layout — vintage grit, modern push, and a neck voice you won’t find on any wound pickup.
