Description
Ditch the tonal compromises of wire-wound pickups. This Fishman Fluence Modern Humbucker set pairs an Alnico V neck pickup with a Ceramic III bridge pickup, both built on Fishman’s noiseless Fluence Core and finished in black plastic to drop straight into any 7-string humbucker route.
Each pickup carries two genuinely different voices, not a coil-tap trick:
- Alnico (neck): Voice 1 is a full, round Modern Active tone with real articulation (peak 630Hz); Voice 2 delivers a crisp, fluid clean humbucker sound without the thin plink (peak 550Hz/8kHz).
- Ceramic (bridge): Voice 1 brings crisp, searing crunch with tight, mud-free bass and plenty of growl (peak 720Hz); Voice 2 is a high-output, organic passive-style ceramic voice built for distortion (peak 1.3kHz).
Wire it as set-and-forget or add a switch to toggle voices live — either way you get vintage-to-hot-to-clean tonal range with zero output loss, dead-quiet operation even through long cable runs, and volume control that never costs you top end.
Both pickups use a bar magnet with blades design (no fixed pole spacing), run on a standard 9V battery or optional rechargeable lithium-ion pack, and draw minimal current — 2.5mA for the Alnico (roughly 200 hours of battery life) and 3mA for the Ceramic (about 170 hours). Gauss strength at the string sits at 120 for the Alnico and 145 for the Ceramic, with 2k output impedance across the set.
