Description
The M1A takes L.R. Baggs’ acclaimed M1 design and builds in Class A active electronics, so you get a stage-ready signal straight out of the soundhole—no outboard preamp required, and full compatibility with whatever gear you plug it into. A discreet volume wheel sits right where your fingers can find it mid-song, giving you real-time control without fumbling for a pedal.
At its core, the M1A is a humbucker with a genuinely different approach. Most stacked humbuckers cancel hum by burying a second coil that does nothing but mute your tone. L.R. Baggs instead frees that second coil to work for you: suspended on a tuned three-dimensional mount, it picks up the guitar top’s actual motion while the primary coil captures the string signal. The result is a blended voice—string clarity plus the air and presence of the instrument’s body—still dead quiet, still humbucking, but far from generic.
