Description
The PA-TB1 is Seymour Duncan’s Original Parallel Axis pickup built in F-spaced Trembucker form, meaning the pole pieces sit wider apart to line up correctly under the strings of guitars with tremolo bridges or wide-spaced hardtails (roughly 2 inches or more from Low E to High E over the bridge pickup). At the heart of it is a dual-pole magnetic design, hand-assembled in Santa Barbara, that noticeably extends natural sustain compared to a standard single-row humbucker layout.
- Alnico 5 bar magnet for a bold, slightly aggressive push
- Over-wound coils for extra output and pronounced upper mids
- 4-conductor wiring for coil-split and series/parallel setups
- Vacuum wax potted to kill microphonic squeal at high gain
Tonally, this is a bridge pickup built for rock: chords come forward with grit and growl, low end stays tight and controlled rather than flabby, and the top end holds clarity and definition even when you’re pushing serious gain. Single notes and leads take on a glassy, cutting edge without turning brittle. It’s commonly paired with a PA-TB1n Original Parallel Axis Trembucker or a PA-STK1n Parallel Axis Stack in the neck, giving you a matched or complementary voice for cleans and leads.
