Description
This DiMarzio set pairs two very different personalities that somehow just work together. The DP103BK PAF 36th Anniversary Neck pickup was built by reverse-engineering Larry DiMarzio’s own 1959 Les Paul, chasing that same deceptively weak magnetic field that lets strings ring longer and sing with single-coil-like clarity. It’s wound with 42-gauge custom wire on computer-controlled winders and dipped to kill squeal, housed under a nickel-silver cover that’s more magnetically transparent than vintage originals. The result is smooth, articulate, and dynamic enough to clean up just by backing off your pick attack.
On the bridge side, the DP160FBK Norton (F-spaced for guitars with string-through bridges) splits the difference between FRED’s nasty harmonic bite and the Tone Zone’s mid-heavy muscle. It uses the same dual-resonance design as those two pickups, giving you more output and size than any vintage humbucker without tipping into full distortion-pickup territory — arguably DiMarzio’s most flexible bridge option, at home with everything from classic rock to modern high-gain.
