Description
This is one of DiMarzio’s most enduring combos for a reason: the DP193BK Air Norton in the neck and DP155BK Tone Zone in the bridge cover a massive tonal range without stepping on each other. Both wear black covers and come 4-conductor wired, so coil-splitting and phase tricks are on the table if your wiring supports it.
The Air Norton was built as the Airbucker take on the classic Norton, and while DiMarzio originally aimed it at high-gain bridge duty, it turned out to be a killer neck pickup instead. Its patented magnetic structure cuts string pull, which frees up sustain and lets pick dynamics come through instead of getting swallowed. Expect deep, warm output (270mV, 12.58K DC resistance) with surprising harmonic content for a neck humbucker — try 500K pots if you want more air and top-end sparkle.
Up front, the Tone Zone answers the age-old bridge-pickup complaint: too thin, too buzzy, too much
