DiMarzio built the Air Norton to be an Airbucker take on the Norton, expecting a snarly bridge pickup — instead they found a neck humbucker with serious personality. It’s warm and deep without turning to mud, hot without smearing into distortion, and thanks to the patented Air Norton magnetic structure (which reduces string pull), you get longer sustain plus dynamics and pick attack that stay genuinely expressive. There are cool harmonic overtones in there too, which is a rare trick for a neck pickup. Run 500K pots for extra treble sparkle, and it pairs beautifully with an Air Classic bridge model for medium-output blues-rock, or with a Tone Zone/Steve’s Special in the bridge slot for a power-and-tone combo that covers a lot of ground.
The DP155FBC Tone Zone bridge (F-spaced for correct pole alignment on trem-equipped guitars) handles the other half of the job. This is the pickup for anyone tired of bridge humbuckers that scream like a swarm of mosquitoes under gain — it’s high-output but stays dynamic, rewarding hard picking with real power and softer touch with cleaner, quieter response. Bass and low-mid content are huge, single notes carry real depth, and chords sound massive. The dual-resonance coil design pulls out more overtone content than you’d expect from a pickup this fat, and it splits cleanly for a solid single-coil voice when you want it.
Built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars, both pickups ship 4-conductor for full coil-splitting and phase flexibility. This set also includes a free set of D’Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom strings.
