Description
Since ’86, one Les Paul has done all of Slash’s studio work, and Seymour Duncan reverse-engineered its exact voice into the APH-2 Alnico II Pro set. Built around an Alnico 2 magnet like the standard APH-1, the Slash version carries a touch more wind for extra push — enough to nudge a stock Les Paul into that singing sustain and snarling crunch that defines his recorded tone. Details matter here too: single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and a wooden spacer mirror the pickups in his original ’86 axe, and this is the same set now found in the current Gibson Slash Les Paul. Warm and moderately hot, it suits jazz, blues, and classic rock, and works equally well in any balanced humbucker guitar, hollow or semi-hollow included. Run the pair for the full effect.
Underfoot, the Dunlop SW95 Slash Wah backs up the tone with attitude — a hot rod metallic red shell housing a Fasel-loaded Classic wah circuit plus built-in high-gain distortion for instant lead cut. LED indicators show wah and distortion status at a glance, and top-accessible battery access means no screwdriver hunting mid-set.
