Description
Dave Mustaine built his sound on relentless picking hand and a tone that cuts through a wall of Marshalls, and the LiveWire set is Seymour Duncan’s answer to giving that attack a battery-powered engine. Instead of bolting a generic preamp onto stock coils, they tuned the resonant frequency of each pickup to mirror two of their most trusted passive designs: the bridge behaves like an SH-4 JB, the neck like an SH-2N Jazz Model. The result is an active pickup that still feels organic under your fingers, not sterile or compressed.
Inside, a discrete Class A circuit keeps noise floor low while running clean up to 25 volts, so there’s real headroom before things get ugly. Low-profile coil windings squeeze out extra efficiency and let pick dynamics breathe rather than flattening every note into the same volume. The black nickel-plated covers aren’t just cosmetic either — they help keep the tone uncolored while giving the set a stealthy, road-ready look.
This is a set built for players chasing gain: classic rock, punk, garage, thrash, old-school and nu-metal, black metal, and anything else that leans aggressive. Everything needed for installation is in the box — mounting hardware, pots, jack, and battery clip — and this bundle throws in a free set of Ernie Ball EB2222 Hybrid Slinky strings to get your rig fully dialed in.
