Description

This is the pickup lineup behind Michael Landau’s signature sound — a set built to cover clean chime and overdriven bite from the same guitar. The neck and middle positions use Suhr’s ML Classic design, prized for a bright, punchy voice with tight low end, a focused midrange, and top-end sparkle that never turns brittle. A modified staggered pole piece layout keeps the magnetic field even across flatter fingerboard radii and modern string gauges, so output stays balanced string to string. Both are calibrated per position, and the middle pickup is wound reverse-wind/reverse-polarity to cancel hum in combination with the others.

Anchoring the bridge is the SSV, sharing the same tonal DNA as its neck counterpart but wound hotter. That extra wind adds output, sustain, and a sweetened midrange push — useful when you want the bridge pickup to hold its own against overdrive without losing articulation. It’s built on 53mm spacing and wired with 4-conductor cable for coil-split or phase options if your build allows it.
