The EMG-P60 takes the soapbar footprint you know and loads it with close-aperture coils and ceramic magnets, giving it the sharpest, brightest attack in EMG’s humbucking lineup. It’s a humbucker wearing a P-90’s clothes — same familiar housing, but with active electronics driving a hotter, more aggressive voice than any passive soapbar could deliver.
Where this pickup really earns its keep is on rhythm duty. Metal and extreme players gravitate toward the P60 because its crunch has a distinct edge — clear, cutting, and built to hold its own in a mix stacked with mid-heavy guitars.
