Description
Klein built the Jazzy Cat set to chase one very specific tone: that hollowed-out midrange, glassy-clean quack that so many Strat players spend years hunting for. It took dozens of prototype sets and a hunt for special-order magnets to land here, but the payoff is a pickup set that genuinely nails a sound Klein believes no one else on the market has matched.
- Hand-beveled magnets for a more organic, articulate response
- Wax potted to keep things quiet and squeal-free at higher gain
- RWRP (reverse wound/reverse polarity) middle pickup for hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4
- Neck pickup uses a distinctly unique magnet stagger
- Middle and bridge share a stagger pattern of their own, different from standard vintage specs
Output-wise, these aren’t low-output pickups—they’re lower-output, and that distinction matters. You still get plenty of clarity and punch in the low end, but the mids stay scooped and the top end stays crystalline, which is exactly what gives this set its signature quack.
Don’t mistake that clean character for a one-trick pony, though. This set covers the classic Hendrix and SRV tonal territory with ease, and it’s just as at home digging into smokehouse blues. Whether you’re chasing vintage funk rhythm or greasy blues lead, the Jazzy Cat set has the headroom and character to get you there.
Finished in white, this set drops straight into any standard Strat-style pickguard routing.
